Models: | . |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.
This is a service VME to all Chevrolet dealers regarding 1997-2005 Corvettes and BCM replacements. Anytime a BCM is replaced, the BCM must be configured to match the vehicle. This procedure is explained in SI Document ID# 1211549 for 1997-2004 Corvettes and Document ID# 1387879 for the 2005 Corvette. After the BCM has been properly configured, the information must be saved in the BCM. It is very important after programming, to turn the ignition OFF for 20 seconds. A message to switch the ignition off for 20 seconds does not appear on the Tech 2 display. If the ignition switch is moved to start without a key "off "cycle, the programming will not be saved. This will generate a B1001 code and the RPO configuration must be performed again.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
