Convertible Top Stowage Lid Latch Noise with Roof Stowed Down - keywords adjust body contact convertible noise panel rattle rear

Subject:Convertible Top Stowage Lid Latch Noise With Roof Stowed Down

Models:1998-2004 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Only

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Vehicle may exhibit a rattle noise from the Convertible Top Stowage Compartment Lid when the top is down (stowed inside the compartment).

Recommendation/Instructions:

Remove the shims from under the stowage lid striker and carefully close the cover to check for interference with the waterfall. The waterfall is the trim piece that appears to flow from stowage lid down to the tunnel, between the two seat backs. Adjust the waterfall down if clearance is needed. Check the stowage lid flushness with the rest of the body and adjust with the bumper stops if necessary.

Refer to SI documents 656613 and 656597.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
