Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the mass airflow/intake
air temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor electrical connector.
- Loosen the air intake
duct clamp at the throttle body.
- Release the air intake duct at the throttle body.
- Release the air intake duct from the upper support grommet studs.
- Disconnect the AIR hose from the air cleaner assembly.
- Release the air cleaner assembly with the grommets from the grommet
mounting studs.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly.
- Remove the MAF/IAT sensor from the air cleaner assembly, if necessary.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Verify that the radiator air deflector is in position before installing
an air cleaner assembly. Improper installation may allow water intrusion which
could damage the engine.
Notice: If the mass air flow (MAF) sensor is installed backwards,
the system will go rich. An arrow cast into the plastic portion of the sensor
indicates proper air flow direction. The arrow must point toward the engine.
- Install the MAF/IAT sensor to the air cleaner assembly,
if necessary.
- Install a new clamp using the J 22610
.
- Position the air intake duct to the throttle body. Ensure the
air intake duct grommets are secure on the studs.
- Tighten the air intake duct clamp at the throttle body.
- Use a GM approved non-silicone lubricant in order to help with
installation. Position the air cleaner assembly with mounting grommets to
the mounting studs.
- Secure the air cleaner assembly to the mounting studs.
- Connect the AIR hose to the air cleaner assembly.
- Connect the MAF/IAT sensor
electrical connector.
