Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 71279  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle . Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the bolts attaching the filler panel to the frame rail.

  4. Object Number: 71280  Size: SH
  5. Remove the bolt attaching the filler panel to the lower fender flange.

  6. Object Number: 71281  Size: SH
  7. Remove the bolts attaching the fender wheel opening to the filler panel.

  8. Object Number: 71282  Size: SH
  9. Remove the bolts attaching the filler panel to the wheelhouse panel.

  10. Object Number: 71292  Size: SH
  11. Remove the filler panel.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 71282  Size: SH
  1. Position the filler panel over the wheelhouse panel and behind the fender wheel opening flange.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts attaching the filler panel to the wheelhouse panel.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the filler panel to the wheelhouse bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the bolts attaching the fender wheel opening to the filler panel.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fender wheel opening to the filler panel bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  7. Install the bolts attaching the filler panel to the frame rail bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the filler panel to the frame rail bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).


    Object Number: 71280  Size: SH
  9. Install the filler panel to the lower fender flange bolt.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the filler panel to the lower fender flange bolt to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  11. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
