Installation Procedure

Important: When installing a new BPMV, do NOT remove the shipping plugs from the outlets until after installation into the vehicle.

    Object Number: 143452 Size: SH
  1. Clean the BPMV seal surface with alcohol using a clean rag.
  2. Install the seal to the BPMV, if it is not cut or damaged.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the EBCM to the BPMV.
  5. Tighten the mounting bolts in the following sequence:
  6. Tighten

        • First pass to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
        • Second pass to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
  7. Install the EBCM/BPMV insulator mounting bolt.
  8. Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 14 N·m (10 lb ft).

  9. Install the EBCM/BPMV into the bracket on the vehicle.
  10. Install the two insulator nuts (1).
  11. Tighten
Tighten the to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  12. Connect the brake fluid pressure sensor electrical connector (2).

  13. Object Number: 705585 Size: SH
  14. Install the brake pipes from the rear brake calipers (1, 2) to the BPMV in the same location as removed.
  15. Tighten
Tighten the brake pipe fittings to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

    Object Number: 705580 Size: SH
  16. Install the brake pipes from the front brake calipers (1, 2) to the BPMV in the same location as removed.
