Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

  1. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  2. Cover the ambient light sensor with a dark cloth.

Do the low beam headlamps illuminate?

Go to Step 3

Go to Twilight Sentinel Inoperative

  1. Turn the headlamp switch to the ON position.
  2. Uncover the ambient sensor.
  3. Turn the high beam switch to the ON and then to the OFF position

Do the low and then the high beam headlamps turn on and off?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect connector C209.
  2. Using a test lamp at C209, probe the male side between the switched headlamp battery positive voltage supply circuit and ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Inspect the multifunction turn signal lever harness connector C209 for a poor connection. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Test for an open, high resistance or a short to ground in the headlamp battery positive voltage input circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the ALC relay. Refer to Relay Replacement in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 9

Replace the multifunction turn signal lever. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 9

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
