  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn ON the radio.
  3. Adjust the radio balance and fade to the suspect speaker.

Do all of the speakers operate properly?

Are all of the speakers inoperative?

Test the low level audio signal circuits for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the radio.
  3. Momentarily touch a 1.5  volt battery between the appropriate speaker output circuits of the radio.

Does the speaker emit an audible pop?

Test the appropriate non-amplified speaker output circuits of the radio for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the radio.
  2. Test the antenna relay coil supply voltage circuit for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the Bose relay.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn ON the radio.
  4. Test the antenna relay coil supply voltage circuit and the battery positive voltage circuit of the Bose relay for an open, high resistance, or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the Bose relay for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  2. Place a fused jumper across the Bose relay connections between the battery positive voltage circuit and the speaker supply voltage circuit.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

  1. Disconnect the appropriate sub-woofer amplifier.
  2. Test the speaker supply voltage circuits of the appropriate sub-woofer amplifier for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuits of the appropriate sub-woofer amplifier for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Adjust the radio volume to an audible level.
  2. Test the low level audio signal circuits of the appropriate sub-woofer amplifier for AC voltage.
