Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the lock pillar upper trim panel. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.

  2. Object Number: 289910  Size: SH
  3. Position the #1 bow and the #5 bow in an up position.
  4. Disconnect the rear defogger electrical connections.
  5. Using a grease pencil mark the folding top mounting locations on both sides.

  6. Object Number: 784516  Size: SH
  7. Remove the the folding top pillar bracket bolts with an assistant.
  8. With an assistant, slide the top slightly up and then rearward and out of the pillar bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. With an assistant, position the folded top to the vehicle with the top resting on the pillar bracket pin.

  2. Object Number: 784516  Size: SH
  3. Align the folding top to the marks made upon removal.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the folding top bolts to the body.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Close and latch the top.
  8. Connect the rear defogger electrical connections.
  9. Install the lock pillar trim panel. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  10. Check top for proper operation.
  11. Water test the folding top. Refer to Waterleak Test Preparation in Water Leaks.
