Folding Top Weatherstrip Retainer Replacement Front and Center Side Rail

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front and center side weatherstrip from the retainer. Refer to Folding Top Weatherstrip Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 214120  Size: SH
  3. Remove the screws from the side weatherstrip retainer.
  4. Remove the retainer.
  5. Pull the window blowout clip from the front side retainer.
  6. Clean the adhesive from the blowout clip using 3M™ P/N 8984 or equivalent.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 284762  Size: SH
  1. Apply sealer, GM P/N 12345739 (Canadian P/N 10953472), or equivalent to the front side of the blowout clip on the front side retainer.
  2. Align and install the clip to the middle screw hole of the front side retainer.

  3. Object Number: 284763  Size: SH
  4. Apply sealer, GM P/N 12345739 (Canadian P/N 10953472), or equivalent to the rear of the blowout clip and the adjacent area of the front side retainer.

  5. Object Number: 454895  Size: SH
  6. Apply a bead of sealer, GM P/N 12345739 (Canadian P/N 10953472), or equivalent to the upper edge of the front section of the roof main control link on the front side retainer (3).

  7. Object Number: 214120  Size: SH
  8. Position the retainer to the side rail.
  9. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Loosely install the front screw attaching the retainer.
  11. Install the remaining screws.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  13. Apply sealer GM P/N 12345739 (Canadian P/N 10953472), to the retainer (3, 4) and install the weatherstrip. Refer to Folding Top Weatherstrip Replacement .

Folding Top Weatherstrip Retainer Replacement Rear Side Rail

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear side rail weatherstrip. Refer to Folding Top Weatherstrip Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 214128  Size: SH
  3. Remove the screws attaching the retainer to the side rail weatherstrip.
  4. Remove the retainer.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 454895  Size: SH
  1. Apply sealer, GM P/N 12345739 (Canadian P/N 10953472), or equivalent to the upper corner of the roof side rail and to the rear of the main control link (2).

  2. Object Number: 214128  Size: SH
  3. Position the retainer to the rear side rail.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   5. Install the screws attaching the retainer to the rear side rail.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  7. Apply a bead of sealer, GM P/N 12345739 (Canadian P/N 10953472), or equivalent to the upper and the lower corners of the side rail retainer.
  8. Install the rear side rail weatherstrip. Refer to Folding Top Weatherstrip Replacement .
  9. Reposition the folding top to the original position.
