Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 71989  Size: SH
  1. Remove the windshield side garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 376653  Size: SH
  3. Remove the trim panels from the front side of the rear compartment. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement .
  4. Support the headlining.

  5. Object Number: 376642  Size: SH
  6. Remove the retainer from the center of the rear edge of the headlining.

  7. Object Number: 376646  Size: SH
  8. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  9. Remove the sunshade bezels.
  10. Remove the sunshade supports.
  11. Remove the headlining.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 376642  Size: SH

    Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

  1. Install the headlining to the vehicle.
  2. Support the headlining.
  3. Install the retainer securing the rear edge of the headlining.

  4. Object Number: 376646  Size: SH
  5. Route the sunshade electrical connection through the headlining and the sunshade bezel.
  6. Install the sunshade bezels.
  7. Insert the bezel into the opening until the snap fingers engage.

  8. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  9. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Install the sunshade retainers.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).

  12. Remove the headlining temporary support.

  14. Install the windshield side garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement .

  15. Object Number: 376653  Size: SH
  16. Install the trim panels to the front side of the rear compartment. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement .
  17. Reposition the inside lip of the upper weatherstrips on the door window over the edge of the headlining.
