Open the rear hatch.

Is the hatch ajar indicator illuminated?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool observe the hatch ajar switch signal parameter in the BCM Input Data 2 data list.

Does the scan tool display open?

Go to Step 12

  1. Disconnect the rear compartment lid latch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between the rear compartment lid latch ajar signal circuit and a good ground.
  3. With a scan tool observe the rear compartment ajar switch signal parameter in the BCM Input Data 2 data list.

Does the scan tool display open?

Go to Step 5

  1. Connect a fused jumper between the rear compartment lid latch ajar signal circuit and the rear compartment lid latch ajar ground circuit.
  2. With a scan tool observe the rear compartment ajar switch signal parameter in the BCM Input Data 2 data list.

Does the scan tool display open?

Go to Step 8

Test the signal circuit of the rear compartment lid latch ajar signal circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 13

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the body control module. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear compartment lid latch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the folding top lid latch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Important: When replacing the body control module refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

Replace the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Replace the rear compartment lid latch(s). Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Switch Replacement .

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Driver Information Display Switch Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
