Roof Lift Off Panel/Window Rear Weatherstrip Retainer Replacement Side

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 63735  Size: SH
  1. Remove the roof lift off panel.

  2. Object Number: 71246  Size: SH
  3. Remove the weatherstrip from the side retainer and from the first 150 mm (6 in) of the center retainer.

  4. Object Number: 71249  Size: SH
  5. Remove the screws attaching the side retainer.
  6. Remove the side retainer.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 71249  Size: SH

    Important:  A minimum of 2 mm (0.08 in) of sealing foam must extend beyond the ends of the retainer to prevent water leaks.

  1. Install foam sealing tape to a reusable retainer or peel the protective cover from the foam tape on a new retainer.
  2. Position the retainer.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: Stripped, broken, or improperly seated screws must be replaced or repaired to prevent water leaks.

  4. Install the screws attaching the retainer.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the roof weatherstrip retainer screws to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  6. Apply a 6 mm (0.25 in) X 100 mm (4 in) bead of thumb grade sealer to the roof bow and lock pillar overlapping the side retainer as shown.

  7. Object Number: 71246  Size: SH
  8. Install the weatherstrip.

  9. Object Number: 63735  Size: SH
  10. Install the roof lift off panel.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the removable roof panel.

  2. Object Number: 71248  Size: SH
  3. Remove the weatherstrip from the retainer. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Roof Lift Off Panel Rear .
  4. Remove the screws attaching the retainer.
  5. Remove the retainer.
