Telescoping Column Moves with Seat Switch - keywords control electrical inoperative memory module program steering

Subject:Telescoping Column Moves with Seat Switch

Models:1999-2004 Chevrolet Corvette

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

Tech may note that the seat and column move when the driver seat switch is used. Specifically, when the seat is commanded forward, the telescoping wheel moves rearward. When the seat switch is moved rearward, the seat pivots upward. The seat will not move rearward with the seat switch. The telescoping wheel will only move incrementally forward when commanded with the column switch.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The technician should first be advised to verify the RPOs are properly configured in the BCM. If RPO N37 tilt/telescope is not enabled, a condition similar to the above can result. If the BCM/RPO configurations are correct, advise the tech to verify the memory seat module part number and be sure the correct module is in place. It is possible that the incorrect module was previously installed to correct a different concern.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
