Subject: | SVS Light Or Message With DTC B1001 After SDM Replacement |
Models: | 1997-2004 Chevrolet Corvette |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some technicians may comment of the SVS light or message displays on the IPC/DIC after the SDM is replaced. Further diagnostics will reveal that DTC B1001 is stored. Attempting to clear the DTC has no affect.
Perform the BCM RPO Reprogram under BCM Special Functions. Once the RPO has been configured, it is very important after programming, to turn the ignition OFF for 20 seconds and open the drivers door to disable Retained Accessory Power (RAP). A message to switch the ignition off for 20 seconds will not appear on the Tech 2 display. If the ignition switch is moved to start without a key " off "cycle, the programming will not be saved. This will generate a B1001 code and the RPO configuration must be performed again.
If the B1001 DTC stores as current after the above procedure was performed, perform the BCM RPO Reprogram or BCM Set Up a second time. In the second attempt, de-select some of the vehicle options that were previously selected. Save options. Finally, perform BCM RPO Reprogram or BCM Set Up a third time. Select all the correct RPOs and Save Options. This should clear the DTC. Cycle the ignition and evaluate.
Note:: It is very important after programming each time, to turn the ignition OFF for 20 seconds and open the drivers door to disable Retained Accessory Power (RAP). A message to switch the ignition off for 20 seconds will not appear on the Tech 2 display. If the ignition switch is moved to start without a key " off "cycle, the programming will not be saved. This will generate a B1001 code and the RPO configuration must be performed again.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
