Transseal Temporary Protective Coating Removal Instructions
Standard Transseal Protective Film Removal Process:
·Film is designed to release easily from the paint surface at an ambient temperature between 60 degrees F to 90 degrees F.
Place vehicle in wash bay or covered area and wet film thoroughly using ordinary tap water from a garden hose or standard manual pressure washer.
Pressure washer may have a pressure range of 1000-2200 psi. Never use hot water to remove the temporary protective coating.
Peel film back from corner to allow water to penetrate underneath film. It is most efficient to combine the peeling of the coating off with one hand while directing the pressure water with the other.
Removal of Transseal Protective Film:
a) when film has been on vehicle for up to six months for longer,
b) when film is extremely dirty in appearance,
c) or when film is stubborn to peel off by hand.
Place vehicle in wash bay or covered area.
Vehicle paint surface should be at an ambient temperature between 60 degrees F and 90 degrees F. Keep surface wet for 10-15 minutes.
Soak film with cold or warm water and wash thoroughly using soap and water. Use car wash soap concentrate or if film is extremely dirty use Murphy’s Oil Soap to help wet film.
Use a "woolen" car wash mitt, wet surface and pour soap concentrate directly onto surface.
Repeat the water soaking process...when film turns from clear to a milky white in appearance, release agents in the film have been activated allowing the film to be removed easily from the surface using a pressure washer. In extreme conditions, wet towels with water and place directly on film surface. Keep surface wet for 10-15 minutes.
When film turns milky white, remove towels and use pressure washer for film removal.
Never pour solvents onto film for removal. The film will always remove with soap and pressure water.
Temporary protective coating may leave a polish wax "haze" on surface. Wash paint finishes by hand using soap and water to produce a polished luster. Removal of Transseal Over spray on Corvette Z06 "fixed roof" or small film particles on paint surface:
Use General Motors "Opti-Kleen" Window Washer Concentrate. Pour directly onto a clean soft dry cloth. The concentrate "Opti-Kleen" solution will instantly dissolve Transseal film particles or over spray from painted surfaces, acrylic lens, acrylic emblems, polycarbonate, lexan surfaces, or unsealed rubber surfaces. Always wear rubber gloves and always follow manufacturer instructions when handling chemical substances.
Important: Place wire screen over drain to stop film from entering and clogging sewer drain. Transseal film is a Class-II Industrial non-hazardous waste and may be disposed of accordingly. The location of the Transseal label is on the front center of the hood on top of the Transseal.
