Models:.

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:

Some 2004 5.7L (VIN G) LS1 Corvettes with an automatic transmission that were built prior to VIN breakpoint 200651 (last 6 of VIN) may experience an oil leak at the transmission cooler line bracket to oil pan area. The oil leak may be the result of a transmission cooler line bracket bolt being installed during production or a previous repair. If a bolt of 20 mm (0.79 in) in length is installed, it may push through the oil pan and into the gasket, resulting in an oil leak.

Recommendation/Instructions:

To correct this condition, it will be necessary to replace the oil pan and gasket. To prevent a reoccurrence, it will also be necessary to install a shorter transmission cooler line bracket bolt that is 12 - 16 mm (0.47 - 0.63 in) long.

.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
