Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Operate the turn signals.
  3. Observe the turn signal lamps and indicators.

Do the turn signal lamps and indicators operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Are only the turn signal indicators in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) inoperative?

Go to Step 13

Are all turn signal lamps inoperative?

Go to Step 5

Place the hazard switch in the ON position.

Do all hazard lamps operate properly?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the C4 harness connector at the turn signal/multifunction switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  3. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper between the left turn signal switch signal circuit and a good ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Do the left turn signal lamps illuminate?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper between the right turn signal switch signal circuit and a good ground.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Do the right turn signal lamps illuminate?

Test for an open, high resistance, or short to battery voltage in the turn signal switch signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the turn signal/multifunction switch ground circuit for an open, high resistance, or short to battery voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the inoperative turn signal lamp supply voltage circuit for an open, high resistance, or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Locate and repair an open, high resistance, or short to battery voltage in the ground circuit of the inoperative turn signal lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the turn signal/multifunction switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
