Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1706964 Size: SH
  1. Open the folding top to fully open position.
  2. Place a protective covering over the interior of the vehicle and the adjacent body panels.
  3. Using a grease pencil, mark the location of the striker.
  4. Remove the upper garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  5. Remove the locating striker screws (1).

    6. Note the location and the amount of any shims that may be present.

  6. If doing the left side striker, disconnect the electrical connector.
  7. Remove the striker from the windshield header.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the same shims in the original locations.

    2. Object Number: 1706964 Size: SH
  2. Position the striker to the windshield header (3).

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the striker screws. Do NOT tighten.
  4. Install the electrical connector to the striker on the left only.
  5. Position the folding top panel so that the panel is resting unlatched on the windshield header, with the locating pins in the strikers.
  6. Manually latch the folding top. Apply pressure to the locating pin so that the rubber bumper is contacting the striker.
  7. Open the folding top.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  8. Close the folding top while inspecting the alignment of the locating pin to the striker. Close and latch the folding top.
  9. Remove the protective covering.
  10. Cycle the folding top one complete cycle in both directions.
  11. Inspect the folding top for proper operation.
