• | Isopropyl Alcohol or Equivalent |
• | Cartridge-type Caulking Gun |
• | Commercial-type Utility Knife |
Removal Procedure
- Open the hood.
- Lower the door windows.
Important: Before cutting out a stationary window, apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and inner trim.
- Remove the windshield wiper arms. Refer to
Wiper Arm, Blade, Insert Replacement - Front
.
- Perform the appropriate step:
• | For the coupe, remove the roof lift-off panel. |
• | For the convertible, lower the folding top. |
- Remove the hood air inlet screen seal. Refer to
Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the air inlet screen panel. Refer to
Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the lower windshield supports (1) from the cowl panel, if equipped.
- Remove the rearview mirror. Refer to
Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement
.
Caution: If broken glass falls into the defroster outlets, it can be blown into
the passenger compartment and cause personal injury.
- Cover the following parts to protect from broken glass:
9.2. | The defroster outlets and the A/C outlets |
9.3. | The seats and the carpeting |
- Remove the windshield weatherstrip. Refer to
Weatherstrip Replacement
.
- Remove the windshield side reveal moldings. Refer to
Windshield Side Reveal Molding Replacement
.
- Remove the windshield side garnish moldings and retainer clips from the windshield frame
- Remove the 4 rearmost screws that attach the top of the fender to the wheelhouse.
Important: Tape or otherwise protect the fender from the cutting tool.
- Reposition the top of the fender for tool access.
Important: Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the window.
- This will allow the urethane adhesive to be separated from the window.
• | Leave a base of urethane on the pinchweld flange. |
• | The only suitable lubrication is clear water. |
- Remove the bottom of the window from the urethane adhesive using a long utility knife or similar tool. Keep the cutting edge of the utility knife against
the glass. Do this from inside the vehicle.
- Remove the windshield (1) from the vehicle with the aid of an assistant (2) .
Installation Procedure
- Install a stationary window into the opening. Refer to
Adhesive Installation of Stationary Windows
.
- Install the windshield side reveal moldings. Refer to
Windshield Side Reveal Molding Replacement
.
- Install the windshield weatherstrip. Refer to
Weatherstrip Replacement
.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the fender mounting screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).
- Install the air inlet screen. Refer to
Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement
.
- Install the air inlet screen seal. Refer to
Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement
.
- Install the windshield wiper arms and washer hoses. Refer to
Wiper Arm, Blade, Insert Replacement - Front
.
- Install the windshield side garnish moldings.
- Remove the rearview mirror. Refer to
Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement
.
- Perform the appropriate step:
• | For the coupe, install the roof lift-off panel. |
• | For the convertible, raise and close the folding top. |
- Close the door windows.
- Remove the double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.
- Close the hood.
