Driver or Passenger Seat Functions Inoperative, Blown Seat Function Fuse (Repair Wire(s) and/or Relocate Connectors)

Subject:Driver or Passenger Seat Functions Inoperative, Blown Seat Function Fuse (Repair Wire(s) and/or Relocate Connectors)

Models:2005 Chevrolet Corvette

Condition

Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions:

    • Power seat is inoperative
    • Seat lumbar is inoperative
    • Seat heater is inoperative

Upon investigation, the technician may find a seat function fuse blown.

Cause

The cause of these conditions may be due to either the seat harness connector becoming disconnected or the seat harness contacting the seat track, resulting in a rub-through to wires enclosed in the harness. Depending on the seat height position, clearance between the seat and floor is very tight. Back and forth seat movement may release the connector cam lock, allowing the connector halves to separate.

Correction

Repair the wire(s), if necessary, and/or relocate the seat harness connectors underneath the carpet using the procedure listed below. Perform this procedure on both seats in order to prevent reoccurrence of this condition.

  1. Remove the seat assembly from the vehicle.
  2. Inspect the wires on the seat side of the harness for damage and repair as necessary. Refer to Wiring Repairs in the Wiring Systems sub-section of the Service Manual (SI Document ID #162420).
  3. Remove the door sill plate.
  4. Remove the manual door release handle.

  5. Object Number: 1567507 Size: SH
  6. Pull the carpet for access and remove approximately 100 mm x 180 mm area of the carpet padding as shown in the above illustration.
  7. Install the carpet back into place.
  8. Install the manual door release handle.
  9. Install the door sill plate.
  10. Install the seat assembly into the vehicle. Connect the electrical and feed front connector(s) through the slit in the carpet and tuck the connector(s) underneath the carpet before securing the seat to the floor.
