Info - Headlamp Ballast Part Change

This bulletin is being issued to inform dealers that some of the above vehicles were manufactured with a 2006 headlamp ballast. The 2005 ballast and the 2006 ballast are NOT interchangeable in regard to wiring harness connector mating.

When servicing a headlamp ballast on a 2005 Corvette built after July 31, 2005, it is important to inspect the ballast prior to ordering and replacing it with a new part. Ordering the 2005 ballast based on the Parts Catalog only may not provide the correct ballast to fit the vehicle's application. Please use the following inspection to identify what ballast type is on the vehicle and use this information to order the correct ballast.

After removing the ballast access cover, determine if the four screws securing the ballast halves together are visible without removing the ballast from the cover. If the four screws are visible without removing the ballast, it is a 2006 ballast and you should use P/N 89025794. If the ballast must be removed from the cover in order to see the four screws, it is a 2005 ballast and you should use P/N 12335922.
