Subject: | Unable To Enter RKE Program Mode |
Models: | 2005-2006 Chevrolet Corvette |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
You may notice that on some vehicles, you can not enter keyless entry program mode when using methods 1-3 in SI. You may experience this concern when adding an additional remote or when replacing one of the transmitters. This concern may be seen more often on 2006 vehicles with manual transmission due to the fact that the reverse requirement to shut off the vehicle is not required for the 06 model year.
When performing fob programming on a manual transmission vehicle, the vehicle MUST be placed in REVERSE prior to going to OFF, before starting the fob programming procedure.
The first step in Methods 1 - 3 for fob programming should be:
1. The vehicle must be placed in REVERSE (if manual transmission) or PARK (if automatic transmission) PRIOR to shutting the vehicle OFF.
The 10th step in Methods 4 (domestic) or Method 2 (export) for fob programming should be:
10. When the 10 minute relearn procedure has completed, put manual transmissions in REVERSE, automatic transmissions in PARK, and turn the vehicle OFF.
The procedure has been updated in SI and can now be viewed by pulling up Document ID # 1676431 in SI.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
