Subject:Fob Recall for Memory Seats Inoperative Manual Transmission Only

Models:2005-2006 Chevrolet Corvette w/Manual Transmission Only

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers with manual transmissions may comment that the memory seat and steering wheel recall feature is inoperative by key fob when entering the vehicle. However, when the driver1 or driver2 button is pressed on the driver's door, the seat and steering wheel will recall normally. This PI is written to help clarify recall operation.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The concern above is normal operating characteristics.

The only seat and steering wheel recall that the Corvette (only equipped with a manual transmission) offers by key fob is referred to as "Auto Exit Recall". This feature allows memory seats and telescoping steering wheel to be programmed to an exit position for each driver. For this feature to be work, the park brake must be applied and the feature must be turned on in the DIC for the desired driver requesting the feature. Below is how the feature works on a manual transmission vehicle when approaching and when exiting the vehicle.

  1. When approaching the vehicle with the key fob, once the doors touch pad is depressed, the door will open, then the seat and steering wheel will travel to the programmed "Auto Exit Recall" position for that driver. Enter the vehicle, then press the appropriate driver number on the driver's door. Once selected, the drivers seat, steering wheel and mirrors will recall to that drivers programmed position. The RADIO and HVAC will recall to the last set position for the selected driver.
  2. To exit the vehicle, park your vehicle. The following procedures in quotes were taken from section 2 of the GM On-Line Owners Manuals titled Park Your Vehicle. "Before exiting the vehicle, move the shifter into Reverse (R) and firmly apply the parking brake. Once the shifter is placed into Reverse (R) with the clutch pedal depressed in, you can turn the ignition off and release the clutch". Now that the vehicle is safely parked per the procedures in quotes above, the door can be opened to exit the vehicle. Press drivers door button to open the door, then the driver's seat and steering wheel will travel to the programmed "Auto Exit Recall" position.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
