The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment that the Center High Mount Stop Lamp (CHMSL) may illuminate DIM with out brake application. With the CHMSL illuminated all the time, this could lead to a battery drain concern. This may be the result of water intrusion to the C455 connector.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Inspect for water intrusion at the C455 connector behind the right rear tail lamp. Dry out the connector, repair any damaged terminals, reroute the connector to avoid water intrusion and coat terminals with dielectric grease to prevent corrosion.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
