Makes 🢒 Chevrolet 🢒 2007 🢒 Corvette 🢒 Body Repair 🢒 Frame and Underbody 🢒 Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Open the hood.

    2. Object Number: 1830404 Size: SH
  2. Remove the oil fill cap (2).
  3. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

    4. Object Number: 1674341 Size: SH
  4. Remove both oil pan drain plugs.
  5. Drain the engine oil into an appropriate container.

    6. Object Number: 1674342 Size: SH
  6. Remove the engine oil filter.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1674342 Size: SH

    Important: Before installing the new oil filter, ensure that the old oil filter gasket has been removed. If not, remove the old gasket.

  1. Install the oil filter to the engine block.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the engine oil filter to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  2. Install both oil pan drain plugs.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan drain plugs to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  3. Lower the vehicle.

    4. Object Number: 1830404 Size: SH

    Important: DO NOT use any engine oil additives in Corvette engines.

  4. Add 7.6 liters (8 quarts) of oil to the dry sump tank.
  5. Check the oil level.
  6. Install the oil fill cap (2).
  7. Start the engine, check for leaks and correct.
  8. Shut the engine off, wait 2-5 minutes and check the oil level using the oil level indicator (1). Add oil if needed to bring the oil level to the full mark.
  9. Close the hood.
  10. Reset the engine oil life system. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting .
