J 42640 Steering Column Anti Rotation Pin

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.




1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
2. Insert J 42640 into the bottom of the lower trim cover.
3. Remove the driver side knee bolster trim panel. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement .
4. Remove the following items from the jacket assembly:

4.1.	Retaining ring (1)

4.2.	Compression spring (2)

4.3.	Shoulder bolt (3)

4.4.	Housing support guide (4)




5. Disconnect the cable assembly (2) from the telescope drive motor assembly (1).



6. Remove the retaining screws (4)  from the telescope actuator assembly (3).
7. Remove the telescope drive bolt (1) and ball (2) from the actuator assembly.



8. Remove the retaining screws (1) from the telescope adapter assembly (2).
9. Remove the telescope adapter assembly (2).

1. Install the telescope adapter assembly (2) to the jacket assembly.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

2. Install the actuator retaining screws (1).

Tighten
Tighten the retaining screws to 9 N·m (80 lb in).




3. Install the telescope actuator assembly (3) to the jacket assembly.
4. Install the actuator retaining screws (4).

Tighten
Tighten the retaining screws to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

4.1.	Install the telescope drive ball (2).

4.2.	Install the telescope drive bolt (1).

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 7 N·m (62 lb in).




5. Connect the cable assembly (2) to the telescope drive motor assembly (1).



6. Install the following items onto the jacket assembly:

6.1.	Housing support guide (4)

6.2.	Shoulder bolt (3)

6.3.	Compression spring (2)

6.4.	Retaining ring (1)

7. Install the driver side knee bolster trim panel. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement .
8. Remove J 42640 from the lower steering column trim cover.
9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
