Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 180649 Size: SH
  1. Raise and suitably the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Clean any dirt from around the vehicle speed sensor (VSS).
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the VSS.

    4. Object Number: 1456299 Size: SH
  4. Remove the bolt retaining the VSS to the rear differential case.
  5. Remove the VSS from the differential case.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1456299 Size: SH
  1. Lubricate the O-ring seal of the VSS with clean engine oil.
  2. Install the VSS into the hole on the axle case.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the VSS retaining bolt the differential.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the vehicle speed sensor retaining bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  4. Connect the electrical connector to the sensor.
  5. Lower the vehicle.
