Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the left instrument panel (I/P) lower insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement .
  3. Remove the clutch master cylinder rod retainer (1).
  4. Remove the clutch master cylinder rod (2) from the clutch pedal.
  5. Remove the windshield washer solvent container. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Container Replacement .
  6. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

  8. Remove the clutch hose connection retaining clip (1).
  9. Separate the clutch hose (3) from the clutch master cylinder connection (2).
  10. Protect both hose coupling ends from dirt and damage.
  11. Remove the driveline support assembly and transaxle from the vehicle. Refer to Driveline Support Assembly Replacement .

  12. Object Number: 1710249  Size: SH
  13. Remove the clutch hose connection retaining clip (1).
  14. Separate the clutch hose (2) from the clutch actuator cylinder.
  15. Protect both the hose and actuator cylinder from dirt and damage.

  17. Remove the clutch actuator cylinder mounting bolts.
  18. Remove the clutch actuator cylinder from the driveline support assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1710254  Size: SH
  1. Install the clutch actuator cylinder into position on the driveline support assembly.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the actuator cylinder mounting bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  5. Install the clutch hose connection retaining clip (1).
  6. Important: DO NOT rely on an audible click or a visual verification of the clutch hydraulic hose quick connect fitting connection.

  7. Connect the clutch hose (2) to the clutch actuator cylinder.
  8. Firmly push the clutch hydraulic hose to the clutch actuator cylinder, then pull back on the fittings to verify engagement.

  9. Install the driveline support assembly and transaxle to the vehicle. Refer to Driveline Support Assembly Replacement .

  11. Install the clutch hose connection retaining clip (1).
  12. Important: DO NOT rely on an audible click or a visual verification of the clutch hydraulic hose quick connect fitting connection.

  13. Connect the clutch actuator cylinder hose (3) to the clutch master cylinder hose (2).
  14. Push together the clutch hydraulic hose quick connect fittings, then pull back on the fittings to verify engagement.

  15. Check the clutch hydraulic hoses for twists or kinks.
  16. Install the clutch actuator cylinder hose to the hose retaining clip, under the brake master cylinder.
  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18. Install the windshield washer solvent container. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Container Replacement .

  19. Object Number: 1617694  Size: SH
  20. Install the clutch master cylinder rod (2) to the clutch pedal.
  21. Install the clutch master cylinder rod retainer (1).
  22. Install the left I/P lower insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement .
  23. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  24. Connect the negative battery cable.
  25. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  26. Program the transmitters. Refer to Transmitter Programming .
  27. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system. Refer to Hydraulic Clutch Bleeding .
