Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 289910  Size: SH
  1. Position the top with the #1 bow and the #5 bow up, and open the stowage compartment.

  2. Object Number: 784547  Size: SH
  3. Grasp the clock spring with vice grips or pliers, and remove the spring end from the roof link pin.
  4. Remove the nut.
  5. Remove the clock spring and the pin.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the flat washer, the bushing, and the gripper washer to the clock spring pin.

  2. Object Number: 784547  Size: SH
  3. Install the clock spring with pin to the arm.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the clock spring nut.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  7. Grasp the end of the clock spring with vice grips or pliers.
  8. Wind the clock spring and insert the end of the spring into the roof link pin.
  9. Reposition the folding top to the original position.
