Subject:Competitive Driving Mode Missing In the DIC

Models:2005-2008 Chevrolet Corvette



The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

When selecting driving modes with the Active Handling Button on the center console, it may be noted that "Competitive Driving Mode" may not display on the DIC. This could be the result if the tire pressure in the DIC were to display "0" for each tire.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Perform the tire pressure relearn procedure below. It will be necessary to use special tool J-46079 for this procedure. This procedure and more about the relearn procedures are outlined in eSI Document ID # 1550440. Refer to this document as necessary.

Tire Pressure Monitor Tire Relearn Procedure....

  1. Select the ACC position on the ignition switch. (Make sure the DIC displays "Accessory Mode").
  2. Simultaneously press the keyless entry transmitter lock and unlock buttons until a horn chirp sounds, indicating the TPM learn mode has been enabled.
  3. Starting with the left front tire, hold the antenna of the J-46079 against the tire sidewall close to the wheel rim at the valve stem location then press and release the Activate button and wait for a horn chirp.
  4. After the horn chirp sounds, perform step three above for each of the wheels in the following order:
  5. A. Right front

    B. Right rear

    C. Left rear

  6. After the left rear sensor is learned, a double horn chirp will sound indicating all sensor IDs have been learned.
  7. Select the OFF position on the ignition switch to exit the TPM learn mode.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
