Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose/Pipe Replacement LS3, LS7

Special Tools

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
2. Remove the radiator support. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement.



3. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the surge tank using the J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers .
4. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose from the surge tank.



5. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the throttle body assembly using the J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers .
6. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose from the air bleed pipe assembly.



7. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the radiator using the J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers .
8. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose from the radiator.
9. Remove the surge tank inlet hose assembly from the vehicle.

Note: Lubricate the inside diameters of the hoses with clean coolant prior to installation.

1. Install the surge tank inlet hose assembly to the vehicle.
2. Connect the surge tank inlet hose to the radiator.
3. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the radiator using the J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers .



4. Connect the surge tank inlet hose to the air bleed pipe assembly.
5. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the throttle body assembly using the J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers .



6. Connect the surge tank inlet hose to the surge tank.
7. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the surge tank using the J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers .
8. Install the radiator support. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement.
9. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling
2. Remove the upper intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement



3. Reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp (1) at the surge tank using the J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers
4. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose (2) from the surge tank.



5. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose quick connect fittings (1) at the engine.



6. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose quick connect fitting (1) from the radiator.
7. Remove the surge tank inlet hose assembly (2) from the vehicle.

Note: Lubricate the inside diameters of the hoses with clean coolant prior to installation.

1. Install the surge tank inlet hose assembly (2) to the vehicle.

Note: Quick connect fittings must be pushed on, then pulled back to verify proper connector engagement.

2. Install the surge tank inlet hose quick connect fitting (1) to the radiator.




Note: Quick connect fittings must be pushed on, then pulled back to verify proper connector engagement.

3. Connect the surge tank inlet hose quick connect fittings (1) at the engine.



4. Connect the surge tank inlet hose (2) from the surge tank.
5. Reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp (1) at the surge tank using the J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers
6. Install the upper intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement
7. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling
