Generator Replacement LS3 or LS7

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

    3. Object Number: 651874 Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the generator electrical connector (1 and 2).
  4. Remove the battery feed terminal nut (3) from the generator.
  5. Remove the battery feed cable.

    6. Object Number: 74067 Size: SH
  6. Remove the generator mounting bolts.
  7. Remove the generator.

Installation Procedure
  1. Position the generator on the mounting bracket.

    2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Install the generator bolts and tighten to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

    3. Object Number: 651874 Size: SH
  3. Connect the generator electrical connector (1 and 2).
  4. Install the battery feed cable.
  5. Install the battery feed terminal nut (3) and tighten to 13 N·m (115 lb in).
  6. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

Note: Align the generator harness bracket with the rear bolt hole on the generator prior to bolt installation.

Procedure

Disconnect the generator field harness connector.
