Note: In the following service procedure, it may be necessary to remove the heat shield from the exhaust manifold.
Note: Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts as specified in the service procedure. Improperly installed and/or leaking exhaust manifold gaskets may affect vehicle emissions and/or On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) II system performance.
The cylinder head exhaust manifold bolt hole threads must be clean and free of debris or threadlocking material.Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
Note: In the following service procedure, DO NOT tighten the exhaust clamp. Leave it loosened so that the exhaust manifold and gasket can be aligned on the cylinder head.
Note: Use one or two bolts to hold the manifold and gasket in place.
Note: Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts beginning with the center 2 bolts. Alternate from side-to-side, working toward the outside bolts. |
5.1. | Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts a first pass to 15 N·m (11 lb ft). |
Note: Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts beginning with the center 2 bolts. Alternate from side-to-side, working toward the outside bolts. |
5.2. | Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts a final pass to 25 N·m (18 lb ft). |
