Circuit/System Description

For the coupe, the body control module (BCM) monitors the voltage on the trunk release signal circuit, when the interior rear compartment lid release switch is pressed, a contact within the switch closes. The BCM detects the drop in voltage in the trunk release signal circuit and provides a ground for the rear compartment lid pulldown actuator which releases the trunk lid.

For the convertible or Z06, he body control module (BCM) monitors the voltage on the trunk release signal circuit, when the interior rear compartment lid release switch is pressed, a contact within the switch closes. The BCM detects the drop in voltage in the trunk release signal circuit and provides a ground for the TRUNK RELSE relay which will energize the relay and close the relay switch allowing voltage to flow through the rear compartment lid latch control circuit and release the trunk lid.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The rear compartment lid release is active.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

B3265 01

The BCM detects a short to voltage in the trunk release relay control circuit.

B3265 06

The BCM detects a short to ground or an open/high resistance in the trunk release relay control circuit.

Actions Taken When the DTC Sets

The rear compartment lid will not open for as long as the fault is present.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
    • When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
    • A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition ON, coupe, command the Trunk Release with a scan tool, the rear compartment lid pulldown actuator should release the trunk lid.
  2. If the rear compartment lid pulldown actuator is inoperative, refer to Trunk Release Inoperative-Coupe.
  3. Convertible/Z06, command the Trunk Release with a scan tool, the rear compartment lid latch should release the trunk lid.
  4. If the rear compartment lid latch is inoperative, refer to Trunk Release Inoperative-Convertible/Z06.

Circuit/System Testing

Trunk Release Inoperative -- Coupe

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the rear compartment lid pull down actuator.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal B and the B+ circuit terminal H.
  3. Ignition ON, command the Trunk Release ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
  4. If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
  5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the rear compartment lid pull down actuator.

Trunk Release Inoperative -- Convertible/Z06

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the TRUNK RELSE relay.
  2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal D7 and ground.
  3. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the B+ circuit fuse is open, test the control circuit terminal D9 for a short to ground.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal C9 and the B+ circuit terminal D7.
  5. Ignition ON, command the Trunk Release ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
  6. If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
  7. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the TRUNK RELSE relay.

Component Testing

Relay Test

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the TRUNK RELSE relay.
  2. Test for 60-180 ohms between terminals 85 and 86.
  3. If not within the specified range, replace the relay.
  4. Test for infinite resistance between the following terminals:
  5. • 30 and 86
    • 30 and 87
    • 30 and 85
    • 85 and 87
If not the specified value, replace the relay.
  6. Install a 25-amp fused jumper wire between relay terminal 85 and 12 volts. Install a jumper wire between relay terminal 86 and ground. Test for less than 2 ohms between terminals 30 and 87.
  7. If greater than the specified range, replace the relay.
