Battery Replacement LS7 or LS9

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the RH rear compartment storage bin to access the battery.
  2. Disconnect the battery vent hose.

  3. Object Number: 1672575  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  5. Disconnect the positive battery cable.

  6. Object Number: 1672569  Size: SH
  7. Remove the battery hold down retainer nuts and retainer.
  8. Remove the battery.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1672569  Size: SH
  1. Install the battery.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the battery hold down retainer and bolts and tighten to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  4. Object Number: 1672575  Size: SH
  5. Connect the positive battery cable and tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
  6. Important: Replacement batteries may require the vent plug in the battery vent hole to be moved from one end of the battery to the other to permit vent tube installation per original design.

  7. Connect the battery vent hose.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  9. Close the RH rear compartment storage bin.

Battery Replacement LS3

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Disconnect the positive battery cable.

  3. Object Number: 1704822  Size: SH
  4. Remove the battery hold down retainer bolt and retainer.
  5. Remove the battery.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1704822  Size: SH
  1. Install the battery.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the battery hold down retainer and bolt and tighten to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).
  4. Connect the positive battery cable and tighten to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
  5. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
