Removal Procedure
- Release the parking brake.
- Remove the parking brake/gearshift console hood. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Interior Trim.
- Measure the thread length from the end of the pull rod to the hex nut and remove the nut.
- Remove the parking brake cable ends from the parking brake cable rod and remove the parking brake cable rod.
- Remove the parking brake cable from the rear backing plate assembly. Refer to Rear Disc Brake Backing Plate Replacement in Disc Brakes.
- Remove the nuts and bolts securing the parking brake cable to the holding brackets, attached to the underbody near the fuel tank.
- Remove the parking brake cable.
Installation Procedure
- Install the parking brake cable to the rear backing plate assembly. Refer to Rear Disc Brake Backing Plate Replacement in Disc Brakes.
- Install the nuts and bolts securing the parking brake cable to the holding brackets, attached to the underbody near the fuel tank.
- Install the parking brake cable.
- Install the parking brake cable rod and the parking brake cable ends.
- Install the parking brake adjustment nut to the eye bolt pull rod of the parking brake lever assembly. Ensure to inspect the parking brake adjustment by referring to the original removal adjustment nut measurement taken in the removal procedure. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
- Install the parking brake/gearshift console hood. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Interior Trim.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Tighten
Tighten the parking brake cable bracket securing
bolts and nuts to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
