Subject: | Traction Control System (TCS)/Antilock Brake System (ABS) Warning Lamp On with Snow Covered or Slippery Roads and DTCs C0043 and/or DTC C0075 Set (Replace Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM)) |
Models: | 2004 Chevrolet Epica (Canada Only) |
Some customers may comment that the traction control system/antilock brake system (TCS/ABS) warning lamp is on after the TCS actuates on a snow covered or slippery road. DTCs C0043 and C0075 may also be set.
The ABS and TCS functions will also remain inoperative until the next ignition cycle.
Important: The regular, hydraulic brake system will never be compromised even if this condition occurs. It will still continue to function normally.
This condition may be caused by the ABS hydraulic pump motor stalling due to operation of the TCS.
Replace the electronic brake control module (EBCM) with a newly-calibrated one following the service procedure below.
Important: Some vehicles may have already been retrofitted with the new EBCM. They can be identified by the blue tape attached to the top right or left of the EBCM. Do not replace the EBCM on these vehicles.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 4-6 N·m (35-53 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten the air filter housing bolts to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
Important: The ABS/TCS indicators should illuminate for four seconds immediately after the ignition has been turned on to show that the ABS self-test is being carried out. If the light does not go off after this time, it means there may be a concern and the ABS/TCS functions may not be operating.
