The keyless entry system is a supplementary vehicle entry device. Use the keyless entry system in conjunction with a door lock key. Radio frequencies or discharged batteries may disable the system.

Keyless entry allows you to operate the following components:

    • The door locks, including the rear compartment
    • The illuminated entry lamps

The keyless entry system has the following main components:

    • The transmitters
    • The intelligent switching unit (ISU)

When you press a button on a transmitter, the transmitter sends a signal to the ISU. The ISU performs the appropriate function.

Unlock All Doors Operation

If the doors are locked, momentarily press the LOCK/UNLOCK button in order to perform the following functions:

    • Unlock all the doors
    • Flash the turn signal lamps twice

Lock All Doors

If the doors are unlocked, press the LOCK/UNLOCK button in order to perform the following functions:

    • Lock all of the doors.
    • Flash the turn signal lamps once.
    • Chirp the alarm.

Auto Locking - Safety Lock

The remote keyless entry system has an automatic locking feature. If the doors are unlocked with the remote transmitter while the control module/receiver is armed, the doors are automatically locked after 30 seconds unless any of the following events occurs:

    • The door is opened.
    • The ignition switch is turned ON.
    • The rear deck lid is opened.
    • The hood is opened.

Rear Compartment Lid Release

Press the TRUNK button for 1 second in order to unlock the rear compartment.

Rolling Code

The keyless entry system uses rolling code technology. Rolling code technology prevents anyone from recording the message sent from the transmitter and using the message in order to gain entry to the vehicle. The term rolling code refers to the way that the keyless entry system sends and receives the signals. The transmitter sends the signal in a different order each time. The transmitter and the ISU are synchronized to the appropriate order. If a programmed transmitter sends a signal that is not in the order that the ISU expects, then the transmitter is out of synchronization. This occurs after 255 presses of any transmitter button when it is out of range of the vehicle.

Fault or Alarm Indication

When the UNLOCK button on the remote transmitter is pressed, the ISU will flash the parking lights to indicate information about the remote keyless entry and theft deterrent system. Normal Condition: If there has not been an intrusion and no fault has been detected, the ISU will signal a normal condition when the UNLOCK button is pressed. The parking lights will flash twice for 1 second with a 1 second pause between flashes. Alarm Indication: If there has been an intrusion since the last time the LOCK button was pressed, the ISU will signal that there has been an intrusion when the UNLOCK button is pressed. The parking lights will flash twice for 0.5 second, and there will be a 1.5 second pause between flashes.

Alarm and fault information in the ISU will be erased the next the ISU enters the armed condition after receiving a LOCK message from the transmitter.
