DEFINITION: The status of the security indicator never changes and the security indicator never illuminates.

Did you perform the Theft Deterrent Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the intelligent switching unit (ISU) PE3 connector.
  3. Connect a 3-A fused jumper wire between the security indicator control circuit and ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Is the security indicator ON?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 3

Test the security indicator control circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 4

Replace the security indicator. Refer to LED Indicator Replacement - Vehicle Security System .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 7

Test for a poor connection at the ISU. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 7

Important:  Perform the program procedure for the ISU.

Replace the ISU. Refer to Intelligent Switching Unit Replacement in Body Control Systems.

Did you complete the replacement?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
