Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Sensing and Diagnostic Module Handling Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1256497 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) storage compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.

    3. Object Number: 1256496 Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the passenger air bag yellow electrical connector.
  4. Remove the passenger air bag module by removing the mounting bolts from the air bag bracket.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1256496 Size: SH
  1. Install the passenger air bag module.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the passenger air bag mounting bolts.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the passenger air bag mounting bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  3. Connect the passenger air bag yellow electrical connector.

  4. Install the I/P storage compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
