Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1252123 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the exhaust pipe retaining nuts from the catalytic converter.
  3. Remove the front exhaust pipe.

    4. Object Number: 1252141 Size: SH
  4. Remove the nuts that secure the front exhaust pipe-to-3rd muffler.

    5. Object Number: 1618475 Size: SH
  5. Loosen the condenser pipe-to-compressor pipe fitting (2).
  6. Loosen the condenser pipe-to-receiver dryer pipe fitting (1).
  7. Remove the rubber hangers that attach the connecting pipe to the vehicle.

  8. Remove the connecting pipe mounting bracket nuts and the bracket.
  9. Remove the connecting pipe.

  10. Drain the engine oil from the engine crankcase.
  11. Remove the oil pan flange-to-transaxle retaining bolts.

    12. Object Number: 1252144 Size: SH
  12. Remove the oil pan retaining bolts.
  13. Remove the oil pan from the engine block.
  14. Remove the oil pan gasket from the oil pan.
  15. Clean the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Cleaning and Inspection .

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1252144 Size: SH
  1. Coat the new oil pan gasket with sealant.
  2. Install the oil pan gasket to the oil pan.
  3. Install the oil pan to the engine block.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the oil pan retaining bolts.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan retaining bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  5. Discard the used oil pan drain plug washer and replace it with a new one.

  6. Install the oil pan flange-to-transaxle retaining bolts.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan flange-to-transaxle retaining bolts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

  7. Install the front exhaust pipe.
  8. Install the front exhaust pipe retaining nuts to the catalytic converter.

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the front exhaust pipe retaining nuts to the catalytic converter to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1252141 Size: SH
  9. Insert the 3rd muffler bolts into the front exhaust pipe flange.
  10. Install the rubber hangers that attach the connecting pipe to the vehicle.
  11. Install the nuts to secure the front exhaust pipe-to-3rd muffler.

    12. Tighten
    Tighten the front exhaust pipe-to-3rd muffler nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  12. Install the connecting pipe mounting bracket and nuts.

    13. Tighten
    Tighten the connecting pipe mounting bracket nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  13. Connect the rear heated oxygen sensor connector.
  14. Connect the negative battery cable.
  15. Refill the engine crankcase with engine oil.
