Sunroof will not Close Completely or Closes and Moves to Vent Position (Recalibrate Sunroof Control Unit)

Subject:Sunroof Will Not Close Completely or Closes and Moves to Vent Position (Recalibrate Sunroof Control Unit)

Models:2004-2005 Chevrolet Epica

Condition

Some customers may comment that the sunroof will not close completely or the sunroof will close but then continue to operate until the vent position is achieved. This condition may be intermittent.

Cause

This condition may occur when the sunroof control unit (SCU) experiences a loss of its memorized positioning data.

Correction

Recalibrate the SCU following the procedure below:

  1. Push and hold the rear part of the sunroof switch to open the sunroof fully. Release the switch when the sunroof has fully opened. If the sunroof opens slightly and stops, release and then push the switch and hold it. Repeat this until the sunroof opens fully.
  2. Important: In the next step, you must push and hold the front part of the switch until the sunroof does not move.

  3. Push and hold the front part of the sunroof switch to close the sunroof fully.
  4. Push the front part of the switch again and hold it until the sunroof clicks and slight movement occurs. This click should occur within 10 seconds.
  5. Confirm the recalibration procedures by verifying that the sunroof opens and closes properly.
