Circuit Description

The electronic control module (ECM) utilizes an electronically erasable programmable read only memory (EEPROM). The EEPROM contains program information and the calibrations required for engine diagnostics operation.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

Microprocessor configuration register is not equal to $OB.

Diagnostic Aids

The DTC 055 indicates that the contents of the EEPROM have changed since the ECM was programmed. The only possible repair is ECM replacement. Remember to program the replacement ECM with the correct software and calibration for the vehicle.

  1. Replace the engine control module (ECM). Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement .
  2. Perform the Diagnostic System Check.
