Test Description

The number below refers to the step number on the diagnostic table.

  1. Bulb test--Clip 1 end of a jumper wire to the negative battery terminal. Clip the other end of the jumper wire onto one end of the bulb. Take the end of the bulb without the jumper attached and touch it to the positive battery terminal.

Caution: Do not connect a jumper cable directly to the negative terminal of a discharged battery to prevent sparking and possible explosion of battery gases.

  1. Remove the glove box lamp bulb and inspect the filament.
  2. If the filament is not broken, test the bulb using the vehicle's battery and a jumper wire.

Does the bulb pass the visual and physical check?

Replace the bulb.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Reinstall the glove box lamp bulb.
  2. Inspect fuse F13.

Is fuse F13 open?

Go to Step 4

  1. Inspect for a short circuit and repair it, if necessary.
  2. Replace the fuse.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

Measure the voltage at fuse F13.

Does the voltage at fuse F13 measure within the specified range?

11-14 V

Go to Step 7

Repair the open circuit between the battery and fuse F8.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

  1. Disconnect the glove box lamp electrical connector.
  2. Measure the voltage at terminal 1 of the glove box lamp.

Does the voltage at terminal 1 of the glove box lamp measure within the specified range?

11-14 V

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 9

Repair the open circuit between fuse F13 and the glove box lamp.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

--

  1. Connect the glove box lamp.
  2. Remove the glove box lamp switch.
  3. With a voltmeter or test lamp, test terminal 1 of the glove box lamp switch at the glove box switch.

Does the voltage at terminal 1 of the glove box lamp switch measure within the specified range?

11-14 V

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 10

Repair the open circuit between the glove box lamp and the glove box lamp switch.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

--

Use an ohmmeter to measure the resistance between ground and terminal 2 of the glove box lamp switch connector on the harness side.

Is the resistance equal to the specified value?

0 ohms

Go to Step 12

Go to Step 13

Replace the glove box lamp switch.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

--

Repair the ground circuit for the glove box lamp switch.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK
