The keyless entry transmitter or the rear compartment lid release switch (located on the drivers door) can operate the rear compartment lock actuator. When the rear compartment lid release switch or the keyless entry transmitter is operated, battery voltage is supplied to the rear compartment lid lock release actuator. The rear compartment will then release. There is also a rear compartment open lamp in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) or the clock depending on the model. Whenever the rear compartment lid is open, the rear compartment open lamp will illuminate. Also located within the rear compartment is an emergence release handle. The emergence release handle will glows in the dark. In the event that someone is accidently locked inside the rear compartment, this emergence handle will glow and when pulled, the rear compartment lid will open.
