Did you review the Luggage Compartment Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Close the rear compartment.

Is the trunk ajar indicator illuminated?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  3. Close the rear compartment.
  4. With a scan tool observe the TRUNK OPEN SWITCH parameter in the ISU Central Locking data list.

Does the scan tool indicate the TRUNK OPEN SWITCH parameter as OPEN?

Go to Step 4

Disconnect the rear compartment lid ajar switch.

Is the trunk ajar indicator illuminated?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Repair a short to ground in the signal circuit of the rear compartment lid ajar switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear compartment lid ajar switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Replace the rear compartment lid ajar switch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
