Removal Procedure
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
- Remove the rear wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Remove the lower caliper guide pin bolt.
- Pivot the caliper upward.
- Remove the brake shoes.
Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.
Notice: Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking Notice in the Preface section.
Important: Caliper removal is not necessary to service the brake pads.
Installation Procedure
- Measure the minimum brake shoe lining thickness. Refer to Brake Pad Inspection .
- Install the brake shoes into the caliper.
- Push the piston inward, if needed.
- Pivot the caliper downward and install the bolt.
- Install the rear wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Lower the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Important: Avoid damaging the piston seal when the piston housing is pulled down.
Tighten
Tighten the lower caliper mounting bolt to 31 N·m (23 lb ft).
