Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1824324 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  3. Disconnect the shift control cables from the shift control lever housing.
  4. Remove the nuts from the shift control lever housing.
  5. Remove the shift control lever housing.

  6. Remove the shift control cable adjust locks (1).
  7. Remove the shift control cables (2) from the shift control lever housing bracket.
  8. Disconnect the shift control cables from the shift control adjusters.

    9. Object Number: 1824328 Size: SH
  9. Remove the shift control cables (1) from the transaxle using a suitable tool.
  10. Remove the cables (2) from the shift control cable bracket.

    11. Object Number: 1785633 Size: SH
  11. Remove the grommet from the dash panel.
  12. Remove the shift control cables from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1824325 Size: SH
  1. Install the shift control lever housing.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the nuts to the shift control lever housing.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the shift control lever housing bolts to 8 N·m(71 lb in).

  3. Connect the shift cables to the shift control lever housing, and adjust the cable.

    4. Object Number: 1785633 Size: SH
  4. Install the shift control cables to the vehicle.

    5. Important: Ensure that the shift control cable pass-through grommet is properly seated and the grommet arrow is pointing up.

  5. Install the grommet from the dash panel.

    6. Object Number: 1824328 Size: SH
  6. Install the cables (2) to the shift control cable bracket.
  7. Install the shift control cables (1) to the transaxle.
  8. Position the transaxle into Neutral.

    9. Object Number: 1824329 Size: SH
  9. Install the shift control cables to the shift control lever housing bracket.

    10. Object Number: 1785642 Size: SH
  10. Position the shift lever into Neutral.
  11. With the shift cable ends in the adjusters, adjust the cables by pushing the neutral lock pin. Move the shifter slightly to center the neutral lock pin.

    12. Object Number: 1824334 Size: SH
  12. Press and lock the shift control cable adjust locks.
  13. Pull the neutral lock pin to the original position.
  14. Install the console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  15. Connect the negative battery cable.
