Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1255707  Size: SH
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. To preserve wheel balance, mark the position of the front wheel relative to the wheel hub.
  3. Remove the front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  4. Remove the lower caliper mounting bolt.

    Important: Caliper removal is not necessary to service the brake shoes.

  6. Pivot the caliper upward.
  7. Remove the brake shoes.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the brake shoes.

  2. Object Number: 1255707  Size: SH
  3. If new brake shoes are being installed, they will be thicker than the worn shoes that were removed.
  4. Push the caliper piston inward, if necessary.

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

    Important: Do not damage the piston dust seal when the caliper is pulled downward and install the lower mounting bolt.

  5. Pull the caliper downward and install the lower mounting bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the caliper mounting bolt to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  7. Install the front wheels. Align the marks that were made when removing the front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  8. Lower the vehicle.
