Power Steering Pump Replacement 2.5L and 2.0L Gasoline Engines
Removal Procedure
- Siphon the power steering fluid from the fluid reservoir.
- Remove the serpentine accessory drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement.
- Place a drain pan under the vehicle. Use a rag in order to absorb any spilled fluid.
Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.
- Loosen the fitting and remove the pressure pipe (1) from the power steering pump (2).
- Loosen the hose clamp and remove the reservoir outlet hose (4) from the pump inlet (3).
- Remove the pump bolts (5, 6, 7) through the pulley holes.
- Remove the pump from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Position the power steering pump (2) in the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the pump bolts (5, 6, 7) through the pulley holes.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
Notice: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the reservoir outlet hose (4) and the hose clamp to the pump inlet (3).
- Install the pressure pipe (1) and the fitting to the pump.
Tighten
Tighten the pressure pipe fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Install the serpentine accessory drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement.
Notice: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Notice in the Preface section.
- Fill the fluid reservoir with power steering fluid. Refer to
Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid.
Notice: Refer to Air in the Power Steering System Notice in the Preface section.
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding.
- Inspect for leaks. If there are leaks, correct the cause of the leaks. Refer to
Power Steering Fluid Leaks.
Power Steering Pump Replacement 2.0L Diesel Engine
Removal Procedure
- Siphon the power steering fluid from the fluid reservoir.
- Place a drain pan under the vehicle. Use a rag in order to absorb any spilled fluid.
- Remove the engine beauty cover. Refer to
Engine Cover Replacement
.
- Remove the serpentine accessory drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement
.
Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.
- Loosen the fitting and remove the pressure pipe (2) from the power steering pump.
- Loosen the hose clamp and remove the reservoir outlet hose (1) from the pump inlet (3).
- Remove the pump bolts (2, 3, 4) through the pulley holes.
- Remove the pump from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Position the power steering pump in the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the pump bolts (2, 3, 4) through the pulley holes.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

- Install the reservoir outlet hose (1) and the hose clamp to the pump inlet (3).
- Install the pressure pipe (2) and the fitting to the power steering pump.
Tighten
Tighten the pressure pipe fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Install the serpentine accessory drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement

- Install the engine beauty cover. Refer to
Engine Cover Replacement
.
